Obituary

Joseph M. “Joe” Strauser, 40, of Thompsontown (Maze), passed away unexpectedly at 2:12 PM on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at WellSpan York Hospital.

Born on May 12, 1980 in Harrisburg, Dauphin Co., he is a son of Philip M. Jr. “Peen” and Linda K. (Pyle) Strauser of Millerstown.

On February 6, 1999, he married his surviving wife, Nichol L. (Benner) Strauser with whom he was blessed to share over 22 years of marriage.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by: three children, Emma L. Strauser and her companion Dillon Volinskie of Lewistown, Noah A. Strauser of Maze, and Adam J. Strauser of Maze; one sister, Tracie Hosler and her husband Joseph of Millerstown; two brothers, Bradley Strauser and Jeremy Strauser and his wife Tonya of McAlisterville; his father and mother in law, Rick and Gloria Benner of Maze; two sister in laws, Lisa Miller and her husband Cody of Richfield and Tobie Benner and her companion Ryan Pellman of Mifflintown; many nieces and nephews; and many friends whom he considered family.

He was preceded in death by one son, Ethan Mark Strauser on June 17, 2001.

Mr. Strauser was a 1999 graduate of East Juniata High School in Cocolamus and was employed as a Laborer for Kinsley Construction.

He was a member and attended Mountain View Community Church in Richfield and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and bow fisherman and also enjoyed carpentry and mechanic work.

Joe was a loving husband, father, son, brother, son in law, brother in law, and friend. He will long be remembered for his loving, giving nature, his ability to help anyone in need at the drop of a hat, his beloved outlaw ways as even in death, the Pennsylvania Game Commission couldn’t keep him on the hook, and his hardworking nature as Joe worked right up until the day he passed.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, March 8, 2021 at Mountain View Community Church, 277 Mill Road, Richfield with the Rev. Dr. Pusey Losch officiating. Interment will follow in the East End Full Gospel Cemetery, Mount Pleasant Mills.

A viewing will be held from 12 PM until the time of the funeral services at 2 PM on Monday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Strauser’s memory can be made to his surviving wife, Nichol L. Strauser, 58 Nipple Road, Thompsontown, PA 17094.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville.
