Herman R. Leach, Sr., 75, of Mifflin passed away at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born on May 16, 1942 in Tuscarora Township, Juniata County, he was a son of the late Stuart R. and Nellie E. (Wileman) Leach. On August 18, 1970, he married his surviving wife, Janet A. (Ammerman) Leach, with whom he was blessed to share more than 47 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Gary Leach and his companion Tricia Roberts, of Carlisle, Kathy Hutchinson and her husband Dorn, of Honey Grove, Herman Leach, Jr. and his wife Michelle, of Mifflintown, Michael Leach and his wife Lori, of Mifflin; step children, Christopher Hubler and his wife Marlene, Denise Hubler, all of Mifflin; siblings, Wayde Leach and his wife Carol, of McClure, Ross Leach and his wife Georgia, of Reeds Gap, Fran Whistler, of Mifflintown, Joyce Landis and her husband Larry, of York, Phyllis Brubaker and her husband Ray, of McAlisterville, Stanley John Leach, of Mifflin; 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
One brother, Paul Leach and two sisters, Hazel and Nellie Arentz, preceded him in death.
Mr. Leach retired as a laborer for the Local Union No. 158, Harrisburg.
Herman was an avid outdoorsman, who loved to hunt, fish, and work in the woods.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 20, 2017 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with the Rev. Robert Graybill, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Nook.
A viewing will be held from 2 – 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at the funeral home.
