Marian K. Gross, 91, of the Bridges at Brookline, Mifflintown and formerly of Thompsontown, died at 1:38 p.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Brookline.
Born on April 21, 1924, in Mifflintown, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Lloyd J. and Mary Ellen (Yocum) Kauffman. On May 24, 1952, she married her late husband, George G. Gross, with whom she was blessed to share nearly 53 years of marriage, until he preceded her in death on April 6, 2005.
Surviving are her children, Fredrick M. Gross and his wife Jeanette, of Mifflintown, Linda S. Roth and her husband Rev. James, of Manheim, George S. Gross and his wife Nancy, of Liverpool, Sheila M. Croak and her husband John, of Dahlonega, GA; grandsons, Matthew G. Gross, Jason P. Gross and his wife Katie, Geoffrey S. Gross and his wife Katrina, Patrick R. Roth, Erik J. Roth; and great granddaughters, Madeline, Florence, Vivian and Julia.
A daughter, in infancy; a brother Carl Kauffman; and sisters, Erma Page, Ruth Stine, Ethel Kauffman, Marie Kauffman, Charlotte Stutts, Mildred Kauffman and Helen K. Lauver, preceded her in death.
She was a 1942 graduate of Juniata Joint High School and a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school and was active in The Needlers. She was also a member of the Walker Grange #786.
Early in her career, Mrs. Gross worked as a secretary for P.P. & L., Mifflintown and was the secretary and bookkeeper for her late husband’s business, Gross Refrigeration.
Marian was well known for her gift of cooking.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 21 2016 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with Rev. William N. Esborn officiating. Interment will follow in the Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown.
Viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service, Monday, at the funeral home.
