Cullen Joseph Tusing was born on October 30, 2013 at 10:10 am at Harrisburg Hospital with anencephaly. Surrounded by family and in his mommy and daddy’s arms, he went to heaven to be with Jesus 8 hours later at 6:30 pm, just after the sun had set. He weighed 6 lbs. 14 oz. and was 19 inches long. He had tiny lips, a button nose, and dark blue eyes; big hands and feet which were baby soft.
Cullen is the first child and son of Joseph Sankey Tusing and Holly Nicole Tusing, and was a beautiful blessing to them; a precious gift from God. During his brief visit on earth, he cooed, hiccupped, blew bubbles and opened his eyes wide for his family and visitors to see. Immediate family was present to sing him Happy Birthday and Jesus Loves Me and read him one of his favorite books. His mommy and daddy, family, and friends snuggled him, kissed him, hugged him, and loved him every minute they had him. He was loved by all who met him, and those who didn’t, and will be greatly missed.
Cullen is also survived by his great-grandparents, Richard and Doris Sankey, Jack Winters, Patricia Yeakley, and Lourene Ciotola; grandparents, James and Donna Tusing and Deslan and Sherry Winters; his aunts and uncles, James and Kimberly Tusing and Eric and Jessica Winters; his cousins, Trey Tusing, Olivia Tusing and Jocelyn Winters.
Visitation will be held Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 10:00 am, with a memorial service at 11:30 am and fellowship meal to follow at East Salem United Methodist Church in East Salem, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in honor of Cullen Joseph Tusing to The Smallest Gift at 169 Woodridge Lane Northumberland, PA 17857. The Smallest Gift is a non-profit organization for families facing difficult pregnancies and infant loss.
Psalm 139: 13-14 – “For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.”
