Obituary for Ellen S. "Peg" Ehrenzeller (Smith)

McALISTERVILLE, Ellen S. “Peg Ehrenzeller, 83, of McAlisterville, died at 1:50 a.m. Friday, January 21, 2011, at the Bridges at Brookline, Mifflintown.

Born September 1, 1927, in Fayette Twp., Juniata County she is the daughter of the late Cloyd S. and Mary B. (Dunn) Smith.

Surviving are: two daughters, Vonnie K. Shank and her husband Earl, of Lewistown, Melvena E. Kramer and her husband Mike, of McAlisterville, one son, Martin R. Ehrenzeller and his wife Linda, of Port Royal, one brother, Jim Smith and his wife Mary Louise, of Mechanicsburg, and she leaves behind five grandchildren, Kimbra Searer and her husband Dale, Deron Shank and his fiancee , Alycia Brickley, Wendy Varner, Martin Ehrenzeller and his wife Rhonda, Chris Kramer and his wife April, eight great grandchildren, Tyson Searer, Jacinda Varner, Brayden Varner, Brooklyn Ehrenzeller, Christopher Kramer, Nathaniel Kramer, Gavrie Kramer, and Alexis Brickley.

Preceding her in death are two brothers, John Smith and Dick Smith, and one sister, Dolly Nearhood.

She was a member of the McAlisterville United Methodist Church, McAlisterville, where she had served as a Sunday school teacher.

For all of her working life, she was a seamstress who worked at various area sewing factories, until retiring from Lyons Fashions in McAlisterville after more than 50 years of service.

Peg was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who enjoyed sewing and gardening, and especially loved tending her flower gardens.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 23, 2011 from the McAlisterville United Methodist Church, McAlisterville, with her pastor, the Rev. Edward D’Agostino officiating. Interment will follow in the Goodwill Cemetery, Bunkertown.

Viewing will be held from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service, Sunday at the church.
