Obituary for Reva S. Diffenderfer (Shontell)

Reva S. Diffenderfer, 88, formerly of McAlisterville, passed away at 1:30 AM on Monday, November 20, 2023 at Brookline Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Mifflintown.

Born on September 30, 1935 in Wethersfield, Hartford County, CT, she was a daughter of the late Edward M. and Alice S. (Corneliusson) Shontell. On June 20, 1959, she married her late husband, Donovan Earle Diffenderfer, with whom she was blessed to share more than 57 years of marriage before his passing on December 26, 2016.

She is survived by her brother and sister in law’s, Sandra Stroup and her husband Glenn, of Evendale, Joanne Goodling, of Mifflintown, Shirley Strawser of Richfield, Ralph Diffenderfer and his wife Pearl of Jacksonville, FL, Richard Diffenderfer and his wife Eloise of Peyton, CO, and also many nieces and nephews and their families.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her three brother in law's, Robert Diffenderfer, Wilbur Strawser, and Joseph Freed, and a sister in law, Erma Diffenderfer .

She was a member of the Faith Bible Church, Port Royal; a 1953 graduate of Pittsfield High School in Pittsfield, NH; and also a 1957 graduate of Bob Jones University, Greenville, SC where she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree.

Mrs. Diffenderfer enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family, church family, and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville, with Pastor Brent Knepp officiating. Interment will be private in the Lost Creek Mennonite Cemetery, Oakland Mills.

A viewing will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

The family will provide all funeral flowers and kindly ask that memorial donations in Reva's memory be made to the Juniata Christian School, 289 Leonard Hill Road, McAlisterville, PA 17049 or to the Faith Bible Church, 317 East 4th St., Port Royal, PA 17082.
