Obituary for Reba S. Guyer (Strawser)

Reba Elaine Guyer, 88, formerly of Thompsontown (East Salem), passed away at 4:28 PM on Friday, November 10, 2023, at Valley View Retirement Community, Belleville.

Born on December 3, 1934 in Lewistown, Mifflin County, she is a daughter of the late Howard D.C and Mary S. (Hoffman) Strawser.

On July 5, 1952, she married her late husband, Donald L. Guyer, with whom she was blessed to share over 51 years of marriage before his passing on September 23, 2003.

She is survived by her children, Randy Guyer and his companion Lori of McClure, Raina Hepner and her husband the Rev. Kenneth of Mifflintown, Roger Guyer and his wife Julie of Middleburg, and Ronald Guyer and his wife Vicki of Wetumpka, AL; seven grandchildren; and nineteen great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Ronald “Ronnie” Guyer; and two siblings, Wayne Strawser and Jessie Kennedy.

Mrs. Guyer was a 1952 graduate of Fayette High School in McAlisterville and was employed and retired as a Secretary for Guyer Poultry Supply in East Salem.

She was a long-time attendee of Cedar Grove Brethren in Christ Church in Mifflintown.

Reba was the consummate family woman whose biggest love was her family. She will long be remembered for the cherished time spent with her family, her enjoyment of feeding her family, and for being there for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 16, 2023 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville her grandsons, Pastor Samuel Hepner and Pastor Daniel Hepner officiating. Interment will follow at East Salem Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral services at 11:00 AM on Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mrs. Guyer’s memory can be made to the Otterbein Global Methodist Church of East Salem, 7589 Route 235, Mifflintown, PA 17059.
