Obituary for William E. "Mort" Harlan



William Edward (Mort) Harlan, 62, of Mifflin, passed away on June 3, 2023.
He was born on June 21,1960 in Lewistown, Mifflin County.
Mort was the son of the late William and Gladys (Campbell) Harlan.
He is survived by his daughter, Rachel Woods and her husband, Kevin and his one grandson, Waylon. He is also survived by his one sister, Leta Fry and her husband, Gary of Shermans Dale and one brother, Roger L. Harlan and wife, Emma of Port Royal. Also by nine nephews, two nieces and several great nephews and nieces.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dennis and James Harlan.
Mort was a member of the 1978 graduating class of Juniata High School. He was a lifelong member of local union 158, retiring after forty-three years.
He enjoyed racing street stocks at Port Royal Speedway, with nineteen trips to victory lane and two championships. He loved classic cars, especially his 1967 mustang he fully restored. He had a great love of the outdoors and especially loved hunting and fishing.
Above all else, his greatest joy was his time spent with family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown with the Pastor Mindy Petrovcic officiating. Interment will follow at East Waterford Cemetery.
A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral services at 11:00 AM on Friday at the funeral home.
