Obituary for Robert A. "Bob" Miller



Robert A. “Bob” Miller, 78, of Thompsontown (Maze), passed away at 1:06 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at the Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.

Born on June 8, 1944 in Monroe Twp., Juniata County, he is a son of the late Donald R. and Arlene L. (Snyder) Miller. On May 1, 1965, he married his surviving wife, Carol J. (Page) Miller, with whom he was blessed to share more than 58 years of marriage before his passing.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Sabrina Schlegel and her husband Jerry of Thompsontown and Bobbi Apple and her husband Edward of Richfield; four grandchildren, Alyssa Heikes and her husband Jared, Kylie Schlegel, Taylor Apple, and Rylie Apple; two great granddaughters, Everly Heikes and Camrynn Heikes; four siblings, Patricia Davidson and her husband Jeffrey of Henderson, NV, Herbert Miller and his wife Sue Ann of Grantville, Linda Engle and her husband Ralph of Millerstown, and Gerald Miller and his wife Leslie of McAlisterville; and many generations of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother in infancy, Jack Miller.

Bob was a 1962 graduate of Greenwood High School, a graduate of the Diesel Technician program at the Williamsport Technical Institute and was employed and retired after 32 years of service as a Diesel Mechanic with PennDOT in Mifflintown.

Mr. Miller honorably served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

His memberships included Dressler’s Ridge United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant Mills, the F&AM Tennis Lodge #371 in Thompsontown, and the American Legion Post 298 in Mifflintown.

He enjoyed traveling, hunting, shooting sports, racing, and reloading gun shells; however, his greatest joy came from time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 30, 2023 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville with his brother, the Rev. Gerald Miller officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 PM on Tuesday at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

A closed casket visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral services at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Miller’s memory can be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
