Obituary for Sieber Stoner



Sieber Stoner, 99, of Mifflintown, and most recently of William Penn Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, passed away at 3:22 AM, Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at the Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.
Sieber was born August 11, 1923 in Mifflintown, Juniata County, the only child of the late Ella Sieber Zendt.
On November 7, 1947, he married his surviving wife, Ona (King) Stoner with whom he was blessed to share over 75 years of marriage before his passing.
Sieber will be sadly missed by his three children, Gerald Stoner and wife Donna of Mifflintown, Daniel Stoner and wife Michelle of Port Royal, and Susan Sheaffer and husband Jim of Port Royal; he was richly blessed with his grandchildren, Stephanie Gulick, Melissa Stoner, Kimberly Stoner, Daniel Sheaffer, Lindsay Foltz, Chloe Bryner, and Sydney Sheaffer, and nine great grandchildren, Haley, Austin, Myles, Reed, Ella, Nash, Ruby, Kael, and Tripp.
Mr. Stoner was a 1941 graduate of Juniata Joint High School in Mifflintown.
A WW2 Veteran, Sieber served in the Navy from 1943-1946. He then began his employment with United Telephone retiring with 35 years of service. In his retirement, he kept busy being a courier for the First National Bank of Mifflintown, a substitute mail carrier, and worked at a local orchard.
Sieber loved to garden and will be remembered by many for the beautiful strawberries he grew and sold over the years. He also enjoyed playing pinochle, and, in his earlier years, spent many days trout fishing.
He was a faithful member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Mifflintown where he had served on church council and as a Treasurer.
All Services will be private with the Rev. Samuel J. Leister officiating and Interment will take place at Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown with full military burial honors being accorded by the Juniata County Veteran’s Council.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Stoner’s memory can be made to Juniata County Meals on Wheels, 287 Deerville Road, Mifflintown, PA 17059 or to the Messiah Lutheran Church, 3 S. Third St., Mifflintown, PA 17059.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown.
