Obituary for George E. Varner

George Earl Varner, 79, of Mifflintown, passed away at 4:01 AM on Wednesday, December 22, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Born on November 12, 1943, in McAlisterville, Juniata County, he is a son of the late Amos and Thelma (Swartz) Varner. On October 5, 1963, he married his surviving wife, Mary Kathryn (Foltz) Varner, with whom he was blessed to share more than 59 years of marriage before his passing.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by: one daughter, Dianne Brown and her husband David; two sons, Dennis Varner and Douglas Varner and his wife Michele; two grandsons, Tyler Brown and his wife Jordan and Matthew Varner; two siblings, Philip C. Varner and Mae Miller; and many generations of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Palmer A. Varner.

Mr. Varner was employed and retired as an Equipment Operator with Penn Dot in Mifflintown.

George was a life member of the Fayette Fire Company No. 4.

His greatest joys were time spent with family and making memories with his grandsons in the buck shack.

All Services and Interment will be private.
