Obituary for Jed D. Phelan



Jed D. Phelan, 26, of Mifflin, passed away at 9:35 PM, Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
Born on May 24, 1996 in Lewistown, Mifflin County, he is a son of Rebecca C. Phelan of Burnham, Joshua D. Rapp and his stepmother, Michele of McClure and his stepfather, Jeffrey Schlegel of Mifflintown.
In addition to his parents and step parents, he is survived by his companion, Yaritza Moreno of Port Royal; one son, Matteo Rene Phelan; siblings, Chloe Schlegel, Ethan Rapp, and Zane Rapp; grandson to David Rapp of Mount Pleasant Mills, Paulette Mapes of Mifflin, Dave and Nancy Phelan of Port Royal; Deb Cramer of Lewistown and Harry Stong of Lewistown; and step grandson to Sharon Leonard of Mount Pleasant Mills, and James Sander of Mifflintown.
Jed was a 2014 graduate of Juniata High School in Mifflintown and honorably served our country in the U.S. Army Reserves from 2014 to 2019.
He was currently employed as a Corrections Officer at SCI Rockview in Bellefonte and also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles (F.O.E.) in Burnham.
His hobbies included fishing, hunting, tinkering with vehicles and keeping them clean, playing video games, especially on the X Box with his brothers, sports, and spending time with his son, Matteo.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 2, 2022 at the Good News Lutheran Brethren Church, 32868 Route 35 North, McAlisterville, with the Rev. Michael Edwards officiating. Interment will be private.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral services at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 2 at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Mr. Phelan’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown.
