Obituary for Kathryn L. "Katie" Leach (Murphy)



Kathryn L. “Katie” Leach, 70, of Mifflin, passed away at 3:20 AM on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at her residence.
Born on July 7, 1951 in Lewistown, Mifflin County, she is a daughter of the late Ralph Murphy and Roxanne (Wise) Murphy Kitting.
On October 8, 1970, she was married to her late husband, Carl D. “Crabby” “Pap” Leach with whom she shared over 51 years of marriage before his passing on March 22, 2022.
She is survived by: her children, Beth Leach of Mifflin, Carolyn Gardner and her husband Chris of Elgin, SC, David Leach and his companion Adrian of Mifflin, and Catherine “Cassie” Goshorn and her husband Robert of McVeytown; six grandchildren, Brittany Tyler and her husband Cody, Damian Gardner and his companion Mileena, Tyler Gardner and his companion Kyle, Kaleb Leach, Keyarra Leach, and Marleigh Goshorn; four great grandchildren, Maddie Tyler, Maci Gardner, Emmy Tyler, and Donovan Gardner; two siblings, Norene Baughman and her husband Leon of Mifflintown and Stacy Kitting and his wife Melissa of McAlisterville; and many generations of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Deborah Murphy and a brother, Carl Kitting.
She was a 1969 graduate of Juniata Joint High School in Mifflintown and was employed as a CNA for Brookline Manor for over 25 years and retired with over 10 years of service as a Private Duty Home Health Aide.

Katie enjoyed gardening and rocking in her rocking chair where she proudly rocked her grandchildren and great grandchildren, however, she will be remembered for her kind and caring spirit and taking care of everyone that she came into contact with.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with Rev. Judy Rowles officiating. Interment will be private.
A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral services at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
