Obituary for Richard L. "Dick" Wible

Richard L. Wible, 92, of Ocean Pines, MD, formerly of Thompsontown, passed away peacefully at 12:26 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at Catered Living at Ocean Pines in Ocean Pines, MD.

Born on December 8, 1929, in Delaware Twp., Juniata County, he was the son of the late Lloyd D. and Hilda Irene (Benner) Wible. On April 9, 1949, he married his late wife, Fayne A. (Van Horn) Wible, with whom he was blessed to share more than 69 years of marriage before her passing on May 9, 2018.

Surviving are: his two daughters, Vickie W. Falkler and her husband Charles of Ocean City, MD, and Dianna Kaegel of Millersville, MD; five grandchildren, Charles “ Chip” Falkler and his wife Leigh, Jonathan Falkler and his wife Kym, Amy Falkler, Dana Kaegel, and Danielle Ireland; five great-grandchildren, Addie, Paxton, Jason, and Nick Falkler, and Nathan Ireland.

Mr. Wible was a graduate of Thompsontown-Delaware High School and a life long member of the Thompsontown United Methodist Church where he was very active and participated as a 40 plus year member of the church choir, served as a lay leader, and was on the Administrative Board of the church.

He began his career in automobile sales at the former S & S Chevrolet in Thompsontown and after that, worked and retired as a General Manager for Regester Chevrolet in Thompsontown.

Dick was a well respected former member of the Board of Directors of the First National Bank of Mifflintown, now known as Pennian Bank where he also served as a member of the Directors Emeritus.

Being civic oriented and community minded throughout his entire life, he volunteered as an Ambulance Driver for the Thompsontown Ambulance League, volunteered with the Thompsontown Volunteer Fire Company, was a member of the Lions Club, and enjoyed cheering on the participants of the Special Olympics.

His hobbies included participating and watching any sport at all levels.

He will be remembered for visiting and supporting family and friends offering prayer, kind words, and encouragement; however, his love and devotion to his family was most important to him.

Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 3, 20122 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Thompsontown with the Rev. Donald Walters officiating.

There will be no public viewing or visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Wible's memory can be made to the Thompsontown United Methodist Church, 7 W. Main St., Thompsontown, PA 17094 or to the Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
