Obituary for Donald C. Kinzer



Donald C. Kinzer, 85, of McAlisterville, passed away at 7:49 a.m. on Friday, February 11, 2022, at the Locust Grove Retirement Village in Mifflin.

Born on May 29, 1936, in Fayette Twp., Juniata County, he is a son of the late Charles Wilbur and Jennie Marie (Lebkicher) Kinzer.

On October 8, 1953, he married his surviving wife, Phyllis R. (Ramsey) Kinzer, with whom he was blessed to share over 68 years of marriage.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Andy S. Kinzer and his wife Dixie of Mifflintown and Richelle D. Robinson and her husband Brent of Oakland Mills; seven grandchildren, John W. Kinzer and his wife Kelli, Jesse L. Kinzer, Bo C. Robinson and his wife Erin, Nate M. Robinson, Paige C. Miller and her husband Preston, Wesley C. Kinzer, and Jacob L. Kinzer; and six great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Charles L. Kinzer on November 7, 1986; and two sisters, Anna Jean Cameron and Alene Roden making him the last of his generation.

Mr. Kinzer is a 1954 graduate of East Juniata High School in Cocolamus and was a lifelong store owner and businessman in the McAlisterville area.

His memberships included the Pine Grove United Methodist Church in Mifflintown, a life member of the Lewistown Elks Lodge #0063, the Millerstown Moose Lodge #925, the Potters Mills VFW Post 9575, a life member of the Mechanicsburg Club, and the Lost Creek Hunting Camp.

Donald enjoyed bowling, golfing, hunting, fishing, and in earlier life, enjoyed playing baseball for the McAlisterville Men’s Baseball Team; however, his greatest joy came from time spent with his family,
especially his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Closed Casket Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at the Pine Grove United Methodist Church, 4633 Cuba Mills Road, Mifflintown with Pastor Michael Baumgardner officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery in McAlisterville.

There will be no public viewing or visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Kinzer’s memory can be made to his wife, Phyllis R. Kinzer, 226 Main Street, P.O. Box 265, McAlisterville, PA 17049 and the family will distribute proceeds to various charities that Donald supported.
