MIFFLINTOWN, Janet P. Oberlin, 79, of Bridges at Brookline, Mifflintown, and formerly of Mifflintown, died at 4:25 a.m., Monday, June 21, 2010, at Brookline.
Born on December 27, 1930 in Walker Twp., Juniata Co., she is the daughter of the late Samuel H. and Gladys P. (Casner) Swab. Her husband, Alfred C. “Abb” Oberlin, whom she married on December 31, 1947, preceded her in death on November 24, 2007.
She is survived by her children: Kimbra R. O’Shura and her husband Leo, of Millerstown, Lisa A. Yohn and her husband David, of Mifflintown, Jeffrey C. Oberlin and his wife Amy; two brothers, Samuel H. Swab, Jr. and his wife Mary, of Camp Hill, Larry A. Swab and his companion Faye Erb, of Willow St. and she leaves behind eight grandchildren, Mitch Hack, Craig Hack, Grant Yohn, Abby O’Shura, Andrew O’Shura, Philip Oberlin, Kristina Oberlin, Katelyn Oberlin and one great granddaughter, Miley Mae Hack.
One daughter, Candace L. Oberlin preceded her in death on January 9, 1976.
Janet was a homemaker and a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church, Mifflintown, and her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 24, 2010, at Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with the Rev. William N. Esborn officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.
Viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m., until the time of service, Thursday, June 24, 2010 at the funeral home.
