Obituary for Maude Evelyn "Sis" Switzer
Maude Evelyn “Sis” Switzer, aged 106 years and 7 months, passed away peacefully at 2:06 a.m. on Thursday, July 15, 2021. Sis, a resident of Mifflintown, Juniata County, lived independently, until just days ago.
Sis, daughter of the late Lucian and Elsie (Nestler) Stutts, of Mifflintown, survived her five siblings (Babe, Jean, Frank, Jack, and Bob). Sis also survived her husband, Woodrow (Woody) Switzer. Sis maintained proud memories of Woody’s service to the United States Marines. In addition, Sis survived her two daughters, Mina and Lou.
For the past many years, Sis lived a life full of energy, of commitment to friends and family, and of dedication to her knitting. Sis rarely missed an exercise session with her fellow senior citizens, participating steadfastly three times a week. Sis was a devoted member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church. She drove her own car until the age of 103. Almost daily, Sis “held court” at the Little Store by Quigley Heights. The Little Store, for years, was the very center of her life.
Graveside services for the immediate family and close friends will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 17, 2021 in the Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown with Pastor Mindy Petrovich officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Juniata County Food Pantry, P.O. Box 44, Mifflintown, PA 17059.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown.
