Obituary for Susan Marie "Sue" Burdge


Susan Marie “Sue” Burdge, 73, of Blairs Mills, went home to be with her Lord and Savior surrounded by her loving family at 11:32 PM on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital.
Born on June 24, 1948 in Lewistown, Mifflin County, she is the daughter of the late Dorothy (Crimmel) Britcher and the adoptive daughter of the late Oscar Leroy and Maxine Baney.
On October 16, 1966, she married her surviving husband, Gene L. Burdge with whom she was blessed to share almost 55 years of marriage.
She is survived by her children, Tim Burdge and his wife Annette of Mifflintown, Joey Burdge and Angel Burdge, both of Blairs Mills; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and eight siblings, William Baney and his wife Jean of Port Royal, David Beale of Port Royal, James Nipple and his wife Barb of Ickesburg, Vicki Fultz of Belleville, Peggy Brown of North Carolina, Leanne Crimmel and her husband Michael of Mifflintown, Nancy Rhodes and her husband Terry of Port Royal, and Mija Baney of Florida.
In addition to her mother and adoptive parents, she was preceded in death by one son, James “Jimmy” Burdge; and one granddaughter, Kelsey Burdge.
Sue was a member and attended the Village Lighthouse Chapel in Blairs Mills where she served as the Secretary and a Board Member.
Her hobbies included cooking, baking, crocheting, caring for children, tending to her flowers, and watching hummingbirds; however, her greatest loves were serving her Lord, being with her husband, sitting and listening to her family play and sing gospel music, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Thursday, July 15, 2021 from the Village Lighthouse Chapel, 16378 Shade Valley Road, Blairs Mills, with her sister in law, Pastor Judy Rowles officiating. Interment will follow in Book Cemetery, Shade Valley.
A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral services at 12:00 Noon on Thursday at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mrs. Burdge’s memory may be made to her church, Village Lighthouse Chapel, 16378 Shade Valley Road, Blairs Mills, PA 17213.
