Obituary for Franklin T. "Frank" Mitchell

Franklin T. “Frank” Mitchell, 70, of Thompsontown passed away at 12:07 p.m. on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at the Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born April 27, 1951, in Port Trevorton, Snyder County he is a son of Helen B. (Beaver) Mitchell, of Richfield Senior Living Center and the late Rudolph T. Mitchell
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Teresa Brewer and her husband Phillip, of Laceyville, a brother-in-law, Orvis E. Rowles, Sr., of Thompsontown; and he leaves behind several generations of nieces and nephews.
Along with his father, a sister, Susan E. (Mitchell) Rowles, preceded him in death.
In 1973 he went to work for Henkel and McCoy, while employed there he served as a lineman, fireman, equipment operator, foreman and supervisor before his retirement.
With his sense of commitment to his community, in earlier life he volunteered for the Thompsontown Ambulance service, he was a highly active life member of the Thompsontown Volunteer Fire Co., where he had served as Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chief and Trustee. He also belonged to the Newport-Tennis Lodge No, 381 F.&A.M. and while at the Tennis Lodge he had served as the past worshipful master. At one time he served as a part-time deputy sheriff for the late Juniata County Sheriff Tom Nipple. He also belonged to the J.E.Bowen AmVets Post 122 and the Millerstown Moose Lodge No. 925.
Frank enjoyed hunting for bear at Fish Camp, fishing on the river and flying his Paramotor.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 2, 2021 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall Street, McAlisterville, with Minister James “Jim Bob” Neimond officiating. Interment will follow at Zion Reformed Cemetery, Kratzerville.
Viewing will be held from 10 a.m., Friday, July 2, 2021 until the time of service at the funeral home.
