Obituary for Harvey N. Fettig

Harvey N. Fettig, 99, of Port Royal, passed away at 10:49 p.m. on Monday, May 31, 2021, at the Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin.

Born on March 2, 1922, in Mifflintown, Juniata County, he is a son of the Karl Albert and Anabel (Noss) Fettig. On November 28, 1942, he married his late wife, Beatrice “Beatty” (Bowers) Fettig, with whom he was blessed to share more than 62 years of marriage before her passing on December 7, 2004.

Surviving him are four sisters, Anabel C. Conn and her husband William G. of Mifflintown, Dorothy L. Towsey of Charleston, SC, Kathryn E. Wagner and her husband Ross T. Jr. and Charlotte M. Burd all of Port Royal; four nephews, William K. Conn of Port Royal, Larry Towsey of South Carolina, Timothy Gutzwiler of Altoona, and Larry Turbett of Tennessee; four nieces, Kathy Swetnam and her husband Douglas of Port Royal, Pamela Stroup and her husband Steven on McDonald, PA, Deborah Reichert and her husband Matthew of Pennsauken, NJ, and Barbara Brown of Mechanicsburg; and many great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers in law, Lawrence B. Towsey and Robert E. Burd; and one nephew in law, Douglas Brown.

In earlier life, Harvey worked on the family farm and then was employed and retired from the Dairy Herd Improvement Association (DHIA).

Mr. Fettig was a 65 plus year member of the Turbett Grange #781 and the Matamoras United Methodist Church in Spruce Hill.

All Services will be private with Pastor Jennifer Heikes officiating. Interment will take place at Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Mr. Fettig’s memory to the Matamoras United Methodist Church, 5718 Mountain Road, Port Royal, PA 17082.
