Obituary for Rochelle V. Peterson

Rochelle V. “Chelle” Peterson, 76, of Honey Grove, passed away at 7:31 AM on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at the Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.
Born on July 3, 1944 in Many, LA, she is a daughter of the late Luther and Velma (McConathy) Rials
On July 3, 1964, she married her surviving husband, Donald B. “Donnie” Peterson with whom she was blessed to share over 56 years of marriage.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by: her daughters, Karen Fry and her husband Timothy of Port Royal and Sharon Rayson and her husband Michael of Mifflintown; grandchildren, Travis Fry, Tyler Fry and his wife Amy, Trevor Fry and his wife Amanda, Christian Hackworth, Chasity Berry and her husband Austin, and Kati Kauffman and her husband Ethan; great grandchildren, Wyett Fry, Abigail Fry, Natalie Berry, Carter Kauffman, as well as Baby Boy Fry and Baby Girl Berry who are on the way; sisters, Angela Clay and her husband Jimmie of Robesonia, and Carmon Sellers and her husband John of Myerstown; a sister in law, Helen Campbell and her husband Robert of Mifflintown; and her faithful canine companion, Molly.
Chelle was a 1963 graduate of Juniata Joint High School in Mifflintown.
In earlier life, she was employed by the U.S. Postal Services as a Mail Carrier and was employed and retired as an Assistant Cook at Lack Tuscarora Elementary School in Honey Grove, but most of all, she was a proud homemaker.
Her memberships included A New Beginning Church in Spruce Hill, the Tuscarora Valley Heritage Days, and served as the Auditor for the Board of Elections for Tuscarora Township for several years.
She enjoyed knitting, animal watching, feeding and watching birds, reading the Bible, and gardening; however, her greatest joy came from time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 28, 2021 from A New Beginning Church, 2118 Spruce Hill Road, Port Royal with the Rev. Frank J. Swartz officiating. Interment will follow at East Waterford Cemetery.
A public viewing will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral services at 11:00 AM on Friday at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mrs. Peterson’s memory can be made to A New Beginning Church, 2118 Spruce Hill Road, Port Royal, PA 17082.
