Obituary for Donald L. Speece

Donald L. Speece, 91, of Mifflintown, passed away at 8:43 PM on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at the Bridges at Brookline, Mifflintown.
Born on November 7, 1929 in South Heidlberg Twp., Berks County, he is the son of the late Percy L. and Mabel (Reynolds) Speece.
On February 28, 1950, he married his late wife, Emma F. (Oberlin) Speece with whom he was blessed to share over 45 years of marriage before her passing on September 9, 1995.
He is survived by his children, Jack L. Speece and his fiancé Audrey Bechtel of Westfield, Cheryl Anne Pinkerton of Mifflintown, and Nancy L. Ellis and her husband David of Franklin, WV; one brother, Gale D. Speece of Athens, AL; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy, Sandra Lou Speece on June 23, 1953; two sisters, Jean Hoffman and Lois Leach; and one brother, David Speece.
Donald was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse and Activity Aid at The Wernersville State Hospital in Wernersville, PA and retired in 1987with over thirty five years of service.
Mr. Speece was a member and attended the Free Spring Church of the Brethren in Mifflintown.
His membership also included the NRA and was also a life time member of the Robesonia Fire Company.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed camping and the outdoors.
Public Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 3, 2021 at the Locust Run Cemetery with Pastor Terry Smith officiating.
