Obituary for Esther P. Deihl


Esther Phyllis (Gray) Deihl, 89, of Spruce Hill Township, Juniata County, entered into rest at 2:42 PM on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at Ohesson Manor in Lewistown.

Born on November 23, 1931 in McCoysville, Juniata County, she is the daughter of the late Joseph and Beulah (Dunmire) Gray.

On February 8, 1949, she married her late husband, Walter H. Deihl with whom she was blessed to share over 59 years of marriage before his passing on May 19, 2008.

She is survived by her sons, Douglas Deihl and his wife Linda of Thompsontown and Joseph Deihl and his wife Diane of Mifflintown; four grandchildren, Stephen Deihl and his wife Pam, Joseph Deihl and his wife Nicole, Cory Deihl and his fiancé Elizabeth Landis, and Ashley Deihl Stremme and her husband David; eleven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Esther attended Juniata Joint High School in Mifflintown.

In 1962, she retired from Ohesson Manor in Lewistown where she worked as a Cook.

She attended the South Juniata Baptist Church in Honey Grove and the First Baptist Church of Mifflintown.

Mrs. Deihl enjoyed reading, playing cards, bowling, and spending time with family and friends.

Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 from the East Waterford Cemetery, Smokey Hollow Road, East Waterford with Pastor Ronald Shupe officiating.

There will be no public viewing or visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mrs. Deihl’s memory can made to the charity of one’s choice.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown.
