Obituary for Ira Harold "Pap" Lauver

Ira Harold “Pap” Lauver, 87, of East Salem passed away at 7:28 PM on Monday, April 5, 2021 at his residence.

Born on March 13, 1934 in East Salem, Juniata County, he is the son of the late Ira H. and Esther (Shallenberger) Lauver

On May 27, 1975, he married his surviving wife, Donna A. (Leister) Lauver with whom he was blessed to share over 45 years of marriage.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Keith H. Lauver and his wife Cathy of Selinsgrove, Kathy I. Crossgrove and her husband Dennis of Beaver Springs, Douglas I. Lauver and his wife Lori of Mifflinburg, Brenda L. Melhorn and her significant other Greg Russell of Middleburg, Tonda L. Aumiller and her significant other Ken Stahl of Mifflintown, Tracey J. Hoffman and her husband Stanley of Richfield, and John R. Ehrisman and his wife Lori of Ohio; sixteen grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren; one sister, Fay I. Shelley of McAlisterville; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Timothy J. “Tim” Ehrisman; one grandson, Jacob Ehrisman; and two sisters, Mary E. Weyandt and Kathleen E. Bitting.

Mr. Lauver was employed and retired as a Construction Truck Driver for Jay Faulkroad and Sons, Inc., in Oakland Mills.

He was a member of the East Salem United Methodist Church and a former member of the Delaware Twp. Fire Company #6 in East Salem and the East Salem Hunting Camp near Troxelville.

Harold was an avid card player and especially enjoyed his weekly card games with his son, Keith and nephew Kory and anyone else he could find to strike up a game. He loved camping, spending weekends with his family at his son’s cabin in Woodward, fishing, and hunting; however, the greatest joy that he had was spending time with his family and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 9, 2021 at the East Salem United Methodist Church, 7398 Route 235, Mifflintown. Interment will follow at the East Salem Cemetery.

A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral services at 11:00 AM on Friday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Lauver’s memory can be made to the Delaware Twp. Fire Company #6, 224 East Salem Road, Mifflintown, PA 17059 or to the UPMC Hospice, 20 Sheraton Drive, Altoona, PA 16601.
