Obituary

Phyllis M. Ranck, 82, of Mifflintown, passed away Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021, at home with her family.

Born on April 26, 1938, in Lewistown, she was daughter of the late William Fulton and Helen (Miller) Fulton. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Ranck, and her brother, Harry “Bud” Fulton.

Phyllis is survived by two sisters, Judy Mowry and her husband, Jim, of Lebanon and Suzanne McNeal, of Port Royal; a daughter, Amy Whitesel and her husband, Jim, of Mifflintown; a son, Tim Ranck and his wife, Susan, of State College; and five grandchildren: Sarah Whitesel and her husband, Hector Nunez C., Caleb Whitesel, Seth Whitesel, Micah Whitesel and Joshua Whitesel. Phyllis also had one great-grandchild, Leah Whitesel.

Phyllis was a 1956 graduate of Lewistown High School.

Phyllis worked at Standard Steel for a number of years, becoming a homemaker when her children were young. She also worked at Ohesson Manor for many years, retiring in 2001. Phyllis and her family lived briefly in Waynesboro, but Phyllis always held Lewistown dearly as her first home and maintained many childhood friends from Lewistown throughout her whole life.

Phyllis attended the Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Mifflintown, and she enjoyed braiding rugs, yearly vacations at Rehoboth Beach, card club, and spending time with her dear friends and family.

In her retirement, Phyllis spent many hours volunteering at the Goodwill store in Lewistown. Her family and the many friends and acquaintances she made throughout her life will remember her well for her humor and generosity.

Because of COVID-19 restrictions, there will be a private service for close family members only. A celebration of Phyllis’s life will be held at a later time when we can all safely gather outside.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Phyllis’s memory may be made to Juniata County Food Pantry.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown.
