Obituary for Elza R. Kilby

Elza R. Kilby, 89, of Mifflintown, passed away at 10:50 AM, Monday, February 22, 2021 at his residence.

Born on January 4, 1932 in North Carolina, he is the son of the late John and Bessie (Powers) Kilby.

On February 1, 2003, he married his surviving wife, Marie “Barb” (Buoy) Kilby. with whom he was blessed to share over 18 years of marriage.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by: his children, Matthew Kilby and his wife Connie of Lancaster, Marcie LeFevre and her husband Arlan of Quarryville; stepchildren, Gina Reever and husband Dwayne of Red Lion, Rick Kahl and his wife Wanda of Mifflinburg, Joe Kahl and his wife Cheryl of New Berlin; a brother, John “Jack” Kilby and his wife Bonnie of Delaplane, VA; two grandchildren, Nicole Kilby and Matthew Kilby; and two great grandchildren, Aiden Kilby and Aubrey Kilby.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elsie Kilby.
Sgt. Kilby proudly served his country with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.

He started his employment with Bell Telephone Company and retired as a Lineman from Verizon with over 40 years of service.

Elza attended the Grace Baptist Church of Spruce Hill and he loved hunting.

Funeral Services will be private from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with the Pastor Dennis Seiler officiating and where full military burial honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council. Interment will take place at the Willow Street Mennonite Cemetery, Willow Street, Pennsylvania.
