Col. Lois E. Potter, 67, formerly of McAlisterville, passed away Sunday February 14, 2021 at Rolling Hills Manor in Millmont, PA after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

Lois was born and raised in McAlisterville. Born October 18, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Marlin S. and Laura E. (Ehrisman) Potter. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Roy and Donald Potter.

She is survived by her sister, Lorraine "Rainy" and her husband Robert "Red" Lauver of McAlisterville and her brothers, Dale Potter and his wife "Kate", of New Bloomfield and Roger Potter of McAlisterville; and many generations of nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind many friends throughout the country.

Lois was a 1971 graduate of East Juniata High School and obtained the following degrees: Diploma in Nursing from Harrisburg Polyclinic Hospital: a BS in Nursing from LaSalle Univ.; a MSN in Nursing from Widener Univ.: an MBA in Military Management from Touro Univ.; and, the one she was most proud of, is a MS in Strategic Studies from the US Army War College.

Col. Potter honorably served in the US Army Reserves from March 1983 until her retirement in Sept. 2011. During her long military career she earned many decorations, badges awards and medals celebrating and steadfast service to our country. She was so proud of all but particularly of the Kuwait Liberation Medal earned during her service in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

Outside of her military service, Lois was a Registered Nurse. She served at many hospitals throughout the Philadelphia, Delaware County and Northern Virginia areas. She was an experienced nurse in the Operating Room, including on Transplant Teams, Emergency Room. Duties also included those of a Staff nurse, a Supervisor and an Educator. She taught for a time at Northhampton Community College.

Lois was a very accomplished woman. In her earlier life she enjoyed horseback riding, she was an avid reader, loved traveling, running marathons, scuba diving, golf and antique hunting. She especially loved music and dancing and spending time with friends and family. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Memorial Services will be announced at a later time for a late Spring or early Summer service.
