Obituary for Robert E. Stong

Robert E. Stong, 61, of McAlisterville, passed away at 9:30 AM, Friday, January 15, 2021 at his residence.

Born on November 30, 1959 in Lewistown, Mifflin County, he is the son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Virginia (Bilger) Stong.

On May 8, 1993, he married his surviving wife, Deanna L. (Yoder) Stong. with whom he was blessed to share over 27 years of marriage.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Tanner B. Stong of McAlisterville, Austin Stong and his wife Hannah of Richfield, and Brandon Stong; three grandchildren, Hudson Stong, Noah Stong, and Ellie Stong, and one grandchild on the way; three siblings, Mary Ann Kantz and her husband Allen of Richfield, Bill Stong and his wife Pat of Honey Grove, and Ronald Stong and his wife Joan of Mifflin; numerous nieces and nephews; his father and mother in law, Walter and Judy Yoder of McClure; and a sister in law, Crystal Wray and husband Joey of Lewistown.

Mr. Stong was a 1977 graduate of East Juniata Joint High School in Cocolamus, and was previously employed working in the Cutting Room at Lyons Fashions in McAlisterville, and as a Truck Drive for the East Salem Dress Factory in East Salem.

He was a member and attended the Good News Lutheran Brethren Church in McAlisterville where he was involved with the Church’s Praise Team.

Robert was a founding member of the “Bluegrass Country Express” band, enjoyed playing bass guitar and playing in jam sessions with his friends but most importantly, he loved spending time with this family.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 21, 2021 at the Good News Lutheran Brethren Church, 32868 Route 35 North, McAlisterville with Pastor Michael Edwards officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, McAlisterville.

A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral services at 11:00 AM on Thursday at the Church.
