Donald W. “Donnie” Burdge, 89, of East Waterford (Cross Keyes), passed away at 9:30 PM on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Born on July 25, 1931 in Lack Township, Juniata Co., he is the son of the late Robert “Bob” and Margaret (Peck) Burdge.
He was blessed to share over 66 years of marriage with his surviving wife Hazel V. (Clouser) Burdge.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Penny Steck and her husband Bud of Dry Run, Larry Burdge, Gary Burdge and his wife Deb all of Cross Keyes; Two brothers, John Burdge, Steve Burdge all of Reeds Gap, six grandchildren, Pam, Tonya, Josh, Terry, Amanda, Jessica and he also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren.
Mr. Burdge was a proud veteran of the Korean war having served his country with the U.S. Army.
Donald retired from the 798 Pipeline Union, Tulsa OK.
He currently attended the Rock Assembly of God Church and formerly he attended the Cross Keyes Church of God and prior to that he attended and served on the Board of the Village Lighthouse Chapel at its inception.
Donnie was a true outdoorsman, who when his health permitted loved mowing the lawn, feeding the cattle, taking a ride up the hollow and tending to his four-legged canine friend Toto.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at the Village Lighthouse Chapel, 16378 Shade Valley Road, Blairs Mills with the Rev. Judy Rowles officiating. Interment will take place at the Polk Cemetery.
A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the service Tuesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Burdge’s memory may be made to the Village Lighthouse Chapel, 16738 Shade Valley Road, Blairs Mills, PA 17213.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown.
