Obituary for Lucian S. "Jeff" Jeffries
Lucian S. “Jeff” Jeffries, Sr., 87, of Spruce Hill, passed away at 3:35 AM, Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at the Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.
Born on September 30, 1933 in Spruce Hill Twp., Juniata County, he is the son of the late Norma Jeffries.
On May 27, 1966, he married his surviving wife, Susan M. (Freeland) Jeffries with whom he was blessed to share more than 54 years of marriage.
Surviving are a son, Robert Jeffries and wife Diann of Spruce Hill; a daughter, Sherry Haines of Lewistown; three sons and a daughter from a previous marriage, John Jeffries, Lucian Jeffries, Jr., Terry Jeffries, and Rhonda Daniels; a nephew, Harry Leach of Spruce Hill; and several grandchildren along with several great grandchildren.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his only sister, Dorothy Leach making him the last of his immediate generation.
In earlier life, he was employed for 22 years as a Shop Foreman at Royer Buick of Harrisburg, after which he retired from Penn National Insurance in Harrisburg with 18 years of service.
During the Korean War, he proudly served his country with the U.S. Army.
He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 298 of Mifflintown.
“Jeff” enjoyed hunting, fishing, pitching horseshoes, and bowling.
A public graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, December 28, 2020 at the Academia Cemetery, Mifflin, with the Rev. Frank J. Swartz officiating.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown.
