Vera N. Sierer, 86, of McAlisterville, passed away at 12:00 AM on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Born on November 10, 1934 in McAlisterville, Juniata Co., she is a daughter of the late Lee R. and Mary V. (Varner) Amey.

On February 9, 1953, she married her surviving husband, Robert Sierer, with whom she was blessed to share over 67 years of marriage.

Surviving her are: children, Robin A. Sierer and his wife Patricia of McAlisterville and Deborah A. Apple and her husband Roger of Mechanicsburg; a sister in law, Marjorie Amey of McAlisterville; three grandchildren, Heather L. North and husband Jeff, Brandon Apple and his wife Carla, and Mandy Brown and her husband Chris; and six great grandchildren, Noah Apple, Alivia Apple, Levi Apple, Aiden North, Calla North, and Isabella Brown.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Amey.

Mrs. Sierer was a 1953 graduate of Fayette High School in McAlisterville and was a member and attended St. John’s United Methodist Church in Cocolamus where she was involved with the kitchen committee.

In earlier life, she was employed at Lyons Fashion in McAlisterville. Next, she was employed and retired after 30 plus years of service in the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue. Along with her husband, she will be remembered as a former co-owner of M and S Crème Stop, now The Crème Stop in McAlisterville.

Vera enjoyed crocheting, reading, puzzles, cooking, baking, and traveling with her husband.

Public Graveside Services will take place at 1:30 PM, Monday, November 16, 2020 at Union Memorial Gardens, Mifflintown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mrs. Sierer’s memory may be made to St. John’s United Methodist Church, c/o Lisa Ard, 1222 Fairview Road, McAlisterville, PA 17049.
