Gregory L. Leitzel, 61, of McAlisterville, passed away at 7:45 PM on Monday, September 14, 2020 at his residence.

Born on October 1, 1958 in Lewistown, Mifflin Co., he is the son of the late James S. Jr. and Margie M. (McNorton) Leitzel

Surviving him are his loving wife, Judy K. (Kauffman) Leitzel at home; siblings, Thomas “Tom” Leitzel and his wife Linda of McAlisterville, Deb Regis of Sun City West, AZ, and Rich Leitzel and his wife Barb of Harrisburg; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step daughter, Angela R. “Angie” Stayer.
Mr. Leitzel was a 1976 graduate of East Juniata High School in Cocolamus and a 1980 graduate of Penn State University, University Park Campus with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Earth and Mineral Science specializing in Geology.

Greg was employed as an Engineer who ran a test lab doing core analysis for Exxon in Houston, TX until his retirement in 2013.

He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in McAlisterville. Some of his favorite hobbies included metal detecting, playing golf, and going to Penn State University for football games.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 420 Main Street, McAlisterville with the Rev. Allen Hulslander and Pastor Graham C. Fowler officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, McAlisterville.

A Viewing will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral services at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Leitzel’s memory can be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Trinity Lutheran Church, 420 Main St., McAlisterville, PA 17049.
