Charles W. “Bill” Brothers, 90, of Mifflintown, passed away at 9:38 a.m., Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at the Locust Grove Retirement Village in Mifflin.
Born on October 27, 1929 in Westover, Clearfield County, he is a son of the late Charles M. and Goldie Catherine (Rice) Brothers. On September 18, 1954, he married his surviving wife, Nancy J. (Bratton) Brothers with whom he was blessed to share almost 66 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: his children, Robert L. Brothers and his wife Erma of Mifflintown, Kathleen B. “Kathy” Kauffman and her husband Keith of Mifflintown, W. Scott Brothers and his companion Nancy Walker of Lewistown, Betsy J. Chortanoff and her husband Tony of Steelton, Dennis M. Brothers of Mifflintown, , and Teresa A. “Terry” Dressler and her husband John of Port Royal; two sisters, Mildred Hoffower of Emporium and Dorothy Olson of Johnson City, KS; one brother, Samuel Brothers and his wife Jane of Westover; thirteen grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Tobias; and one brother, Robert Brothers.
He was employed in Electrical Construction as a Lineman for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local #126 in Collegeville until his retirement with over 65 years of service.
Bill honorably served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
His memberships included: Trinity United Methodist Church in Mifflin; the Mifflintown Lions Club where he served as a past president; American Legion Post #298; Crawford Brubaker VFW Post # 5863 and through his membership of the VFW he served District 17 VFW as the past commander;
Union Lodge No. 324 F & AM in Mifflintown; Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Juniata Valley Forest No. 88; and over 50 year as a member of the Juniata County Veterans Council where through his duty to his country and patriotism he participated in parades and according full military funeral honors. He also served as a past Juniata County Auditor.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and a pappy to all.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 11, 2020 at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with Pastor Dan Kerlin officiating. Interment will follow at the Union Memorial Garden, Mifflintown where military burial honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council.
A viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral services at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday at the funeral home.
