Obituary for Shirley R. Weller (Rickenbaugh)



Shirley R. Weller, 88, of McAlisterville, became absent from the body and present with the Lord on Tuesday, June 2, 2020, at her home.
Born March 13, 1932, in Fermanagh Township, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late P. Raymond and Hazel (Kinzer) Rickenbaugh. On May 9, 1953, she married her late husband, A. Jack Weller, with whom she was blessed to share more than 57 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on February 6, 2011.
Surviving are her children, Chris W. Kratzer and her husband Lowell R., of Thompsontown, Kim W. Imes and her husband Gregory C., of Port Royal, James P. Weller and his wife Robin, of Richfield; one son-in-law Donald G. Imes, of Mifflin, a sister-in-law, Geraldine Rickenbaugh, of McAlisterville and she leaves behind nine grandchildren, John Kinzer and his wife Kelli, Jesse Kinzer, April Clark, Zane Kratzer and his wife Anna, Jason Imes, Luther Imes, Zachary Imes, Joby Weller and his wife Brooke, and Chelsea Weller as well as seven great grandchildren, Tyler Clark, Bryson Clark, Owen Kratzer, Greta Kratzer, Madison Imes, Charlie Anna Kinzer, Blake Arthur Kinzer, and one great-grandson due in August.
A daughter, Lisa K. Imes on June 21, 1995 and a son-in-law Charles L. Kinzer on November 7, 1986, as well as 2 brothers, Paul Rickenbaugh, Ralph Rickenbaugh and a sister, Alma Zimmerman preceded her in death, making her the last of her generation.
Mrs. Weller was a 1950 graduate of Fayette High School, McAlisterville, a highly active member of the Pine Grove United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher, sang in the choir, and belonged to the church’s United Methodist Women’s Group and the Women’s Christian Temperance Union.
Shirley was first employed as an Operator with the United Telephone Company. Next, she served as a Cook at the East Juniata High School and then was employed and retired in 1992 as a Clerk with the United States Postal Service in McAlisterville.
She enjoyed reading, puzzles, and was grateful for her eye sight to see God’s beauty; however, her greatest joy came from time spent with her family.
All services will be private with Pastor Jennifer Heikes officiating. Interment will take place at the Lost Creek Presbyterian Cemetery, McAlisterville.
