Obituary for Luella M. Mahlin (Strawser)

Luella M. Mahlin, 92, of McAlisterville, passed away peacefully at 3:23 AM, Sunday, May 10, 2020 at her residence.

Born on September 10, 1927 in Meiserville, Snyder County, she is a daughter of the late Edward and Jessie (Wilt) Strawser.

On February 23, 1946, she married her late husband, Marlin E. “Jitney” Mahlin with whom she was blessed to share 52 years of marriage before his passing on April 29, 1998.

She is survived by: one daughter, Kay Landis and her husband Donald of McAlisterville; one daughter in law, Carol Mahlin of McAlisterville; three grandchildren, Mindy Fryer, Adam Mahlin, and Ryan Mahlin; and three great grandchildren, Collin Smith, Chase Smith, and Jeremy Fryer.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, John A. Mahlin on November 11, 2015 and Marlin E. Mahlin, Jr. on August 19, 1969; three sisters, Lillian Messimer, Pearl Messimer, and Lottie Pyle; and two brothers, Earl Strawser and Willard Strawser, in infancy, making her the last of her generation.

Mrs. Mahlin was a member and attended St. John’s United Methodist Church in McAlisterville.

Her hobbies included doing puzzle books and spending time with her grandchildren. In earlier life, she also enjoyed camping with her husband and family.

All Services will be private with interment taking place at St. John’s United Methodist Church Cemetery, McAlisterville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mrs. Mahlin’s memory can be made to the St. John’s United Methodist Church, C/O Lisa Ard, 1222 Fairview Road, McAlisterville, PA 17049.
