Betty O. Colyer, 90, of McAlisterville, passed away at 5:45 PM on Monday, March 16, 2020 at her residence.

Born on October 28, 1929 in Fayette Twp., Juniata Co., she is a daughter of the late Jonas and Edna (Dunn) Varner.

On April 20, 1946, she married her late husband, Lewis E. Colyer, with whom she was blessed to share over 63 years of marriage before his passing on July 19, 2009.

Surviving her are: two sons, Terry Colyer and his wife Sue of Lewistown and Dennis Colyer and his wife Paula of McAlisterville; one brother, Jimmy L. Varner and his wife Jolene of McAlisterville; three granddaughters, Tina McLelland and her husband Scott, Denise Colyer, and Amy Fry and her husband Tyler; and two great-grandchildren, Wyett Fry and Abigail Fry.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Ira L. Varner, Lee W. Varner, Raymond E. Varner, J. Adam Varner, Stanley S. Varner, and Roy D. Varner; and four sisters, Ruth Phillips, Pauline Amey, Freda Rauch, and Grace Hepner.

Mrs. Colyer was employed and retired as a Presser at the former Lyon's Fashions in McAlisterville.

In earlier life, she had attended St. John’s United Methodist Church in Cocolamus and recently had been attending Bunkertown Brethren Church.

Betty enjoyed all flowers, gardening, and bird watching.

All Services will be Private. Interment will take place at St. John's United Methodist Church Cemetery, McAlisterville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mrs. Colyer’s memory may be made to St. John’s United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Lisa Ard, 1222 Fairview Road, McAlisterville, PA 17049.
