Obituary for Geraldine E. "Gerry" Writer (Auker)
Geraldine E. “Gerry” Writer, 91, of Middletown, formerly of Hummelstown and McAlisterville, went home to be with her Lord at 6:55 PM on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at the Frey Village in Middletown.
Born on December 1, 1928 in Seven Stars, she is a daughter of the late Harvey and Lottie (Strawser) Auker. On June 25, 1949, she married her late husband, Frank Richard Writer, with whom she was blessed to share over 46 years of marriage before his passing on February 10, 1996.
Surviving her are: one daughter, Lisa K. Crumlich of Harrisburg; one niece, Nancy J. Stupp of Mechanicsburg; one nephew, Gary L. Auker of Sicklerville, NJ; three grandsons, John W. Crumlich and his wife Jamie, Michael A. Keefer, and Christopher T. Keefer and his wife Velva; five great-grandchildren, Kayla Finley, Natalia Valetine, Tyler Crumlich, Makayla Crumlich, and Dalton Crumlich; and several generations of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.
Gerry was a member of the Paxton Church of the Brethren in Harrisburg and enjoyed baking, cooking, and attending flea markets; however, she cherished the time spent with her family and will be long remembered for her servant’s heart.
Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at the Hillside Cemetery, Route 35 North, McAlisterville with Pastor Gavin Whitcomb officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mrs. Writer’s memory may be made to the Paxton Church of the Brethren, 6445 Lyters Lane, Harrisburg, PA 17111.
