Obituary for F. Jesse "Chip" Fry



F. Jesse “Chip” Fry, 77, of Port Royal, passed away at 5:40 AM on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at his home.
Born on March 9, 1942 in Lewistown, Mifflin Co., he is a son of the late James V. and Beatrice M. (Freed) Fry.
On June 11, 1965, he married his surviving wife, M. Grace (Swartwood) Fry, with whom he was blessed to share more than 54 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Barbara Shearer and her husband Joe of Port Royal, David Fry and his wife Linda of Mifflin, Adam Fry and his wife Renee of Port Royal, and Jason Fry and his wife Crystal of Honey Grove; ten grandchildren, Rachel Shearer, Greg Shearer, Ellen Mingle and her husband Chad, Jonathan Fry, Jennifer Ehrisman and her husband Cole, Katie Fry, Addison Fry, Jack Fry, Tessa Fry, and Sean Fry; and one great grandson, Ryan Ehrisman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Max L. Fry, Larry D. Fry, William L. “Bill” Fry, and Robert L. Fry making him the last of his generation.
Mr. Fry was a lifelong farmer and truck driver. He, along with his wife, also owned and operated a school bus in the Juniata County School District and he served two terms as a township supervisor of Spruce Hill Township.
Jesse was an active member and deacon of the South Juniata Baptist Church in Honey Grove and he belonged to various Oliver Tractor clubs.
His interests included collecting tractors, farming, hunting with his brothers and sons; however, his greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 20, 2019 at the South Juniata Baptist Church, 3647 Smokey Hollow Road, Honey Grove with Pastor Caleb Burd and the Rev. Dennis Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at McCulloch’s Mills Cemetery, Honey Grove.
A viewing will take place from 6-8 PM on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown.
Memorial contributions in Mr. Fry’s memory can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
