John M. Hoffman, Sr., 77, of McAlisterville, passed away at 4:41 AM on Friday, June 14, 2019 at his residence.
Born on April 20, 1942 in Saville Twp., Perry Co., he is a son of the late Harvey and Margaret (Fuller) Hoffman.
On March 9, 1969, he was married to his surviving wife, Melinda M. (Walhay) Hoffman, with whom he was blessed to share more than 50 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, John M. Hoffman, Jr. and his wife Debra of Arch Rock and Mary Jo Parrish and her husband Steven of Ruther Glen, VA; two sisters, Rebecca Schlegel and her husband John of Thompsontown and Laura Imes of Cocolamus; one brother, Robert Hoffman of Saville; five grandchildren, Keenan Hoffman, Shannon Hoffman, Sicily McLaughlin, Leah Parrish, and Lance Parrish; and two great grandchildren, Evelynn McLaughlin and Ciel McLaughlin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Helen McDonald and one brother, James Hoffman.
Mr. Hoffman was employed and retired from the Selinsgrove State Center where began his career working in the orchard and continued and retired as a laborer.
John was a member of the Cocolamus Trout Club and Trout Unlimited and enjoyed turkey hunting, trout fishing, working in his orchard, wine making and gardening, but most importantly, he cherished the time spent with family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville, with Rev. James Niemond and the Rev. Dan Rockwell officiating. Interment will follow in the Buffalo Cemetery, Saville Twp., Perry Co.
A viewing will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of the funeral services at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at the funeral home
