Harold L. Shehan, 89, of McAlisterville, passed away at 2:45 PM on Monday, February 4, 2019 at the Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin.

Born on January 4, 1930 in Van Wert, Juniata Co., he is a son of the late Alfred E. and Norma P. (Willoughby) Shehan.

On August 12, 1950, he married his surviving wife, Joanne M. (Leach) Shehan, with whom he was blessed to share over 68 years of marriage.

Mr. Shehan was a 1948 graduate of Juniata Joint High School and was employed and retired as a Foreman with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. After marriage, Harold and his wife started farming, first in Van Wert and then later in Thompsontown where they had bought a dairy farm and lived and farmed for over 20 years. He always had a great love for farming and tractors.

Harold was a member of the Bunkertown Church of the Brethren, the Juniata Sportsmen’s Association, and was a founding member and had served in many different offices with the Lost Creek Trout Club. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman whose greatest outdoor accomplishment was shooting a bull elk in Wyoming with his son as his guide. In earlier life, he enjoyed traveling and camping with his wife and spending time with his friends up on Ritzman Ridge, but the greatest joy he currently had was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Christine D. Shadel and her husband Dan of McAlisterville and Daryl L. Shehan and his wife Jane of Clyde Park, MT; four grandsons, Scott Marker and his companion Lisa Stimeling, Joe Marker and his wife Angela, Jerad Marker and his companion Jayme Dressler, and Cody Shadel and his companion Chelsea Street; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Shehan.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, February 11, 2019 at the Bunkertown Church of the Brethren, 52 Bunkertown Road, McAlisterville with Pastor Wes Stahl officiating. Interment will follow at the Goodwill Cemetery, Bunkertown.
