Obituary for Rachelle L. Flanagan



Rachelle L. (Bell) Flanagan, 55, of Thompsontown (Locust Run), passed away at 8:03 PM on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at UPMC Pinnacle, Harrisburg Campus.

Born on March 12, 1963 in Lewistown, Mifflin County, she is a daughter of David T. “Tom” and Patricia L. (Renninger) Bell Jr. of Mifflintown. On February 29, 2016, she married her surviving husband, Christopher J. Flanagan Sr., with whom she was blessed to share almost 3 years of marriage.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is survived by her children: Carly Sue Niman and her companion Emily M. Smith, Crista Lyn Niman and her companion James Vandergrift all of Thompsontown, Christopher J. Flanagan Jr., Mary E. Flanagan and her companion Jacob Harmon all of Indianapolis, IN; Siblings, Gerald H. Losch and his wife Kathy of Halifax, Alan K. Bell and his wife Shirley, Joel D. Bell, Deirdre A. Bell all of Mifflintown; three grandsons, Camden James Flanagan, Cayne James Vandergrift, and Mason James Flanagan; and she is survived by many generations of nieces and nephews.

In 1981, she graduated from Juniata High School in Mifflintown and currently is employed as a Supervisor with the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue in Harrisburg.

Rachelle was an accomplished ballerina who studied dance under the Williamsport Civic Ballet. After which, she was the first person from Juniata High School accepted to the Governor’s School of Dance at Bucknell University and later, she went on to study dance in New York City. Eventually, she opened the Point Dance Studio of McAlisterville where she taught dance for 20 years to many young people and with her love of her craft, she would give lessons free of gratis to those who could not afford them.

For 16 years, she volunteered with the Special Needs Center in Lewistown where she received a dedication plaque for her efforts.

She was the definition of unconditional love, being a loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, and aunt who cherished the time she spent with her family.

A viewing will be held from 1-3 PM, Saturday, December 15, 2018 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown followed by a Funeral Service officiated by the Reverend Andrew Burd-Harris. Interment will be private.
