Obituary for Naomi P. Harvey



Naomi P. (Varner) Harvey, 81, of McAlisterville, passed away at 5:25 p.m. on Monday, November 19, 2018 at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville surrounded by her family.
Born on September 20, 1937 in Fayette Twp., Juniata County, she is a daughter of the late Robert E. and Pearl Ann (Seifrord) Varner.
On July 2, 1988, she was married to her surviving husband, Richard A. Harvey with whom she was blessed to share over 30 years of marriage.
Mrs. Harvey was employed as a seamstress at many area garment factories and retired in 1999 from AMP in Middletown. She was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in McAlisterville and enjoyed working in her flower garden, sewing, horseback riding, camping, and spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by: her children, Richard L. Herman and his wife Sandy of Mount Pleasant Mills, Bobby Taylor and her companion Barry Wieseman of Mifflintown, Rosa Ryan and her husband Rodney of McAlisterville, Lester Herman of Houtzdale, and James Herman and his wife Trish of Liverpool; step children, Terry Harvey and his companion Diane of Pottsville, Thomas Harvey and his wife Karen of New Columbia, and Timothy Harvey of Bethlehem; four sisters, Thelma Auker, Hazel Bower both of Selinsgrove, Minnie Stolfels and her husband Elmer and Mildred Strawser, all of McAlisterville; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: a son in law, Richard Taylor Sr.; a grandson, Richard E. Herman; and siblings, Clair Varner, in infancy, Dorothy Burd, Stella Gearhart, Paul, Lester, Marlin, Alfred, and Thomas Varner.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018 beginning at 11:00 AM from St. John’s United Methodist Church, 144 Red Bank Road, McAlisterville with the Rev. Candace Arnold officiating. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the memorial services at 11:00 AM on Saturday at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mrs. Harvey’s memory may be made to St. John’s United Methodist Church, c/o-Lisa Ard, 1221 Fairview Road, McAlisterville, PA 17049.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville.
