Obituary for Ray A. Peterson

Ray A. Peterson, 87, of Mifflintown passed away at 10:01 a.m. on Sunday, July 22, 2018, at his home.
Born on April 17, 1931, in Tuscarora Township, Juniata County, he was a son of the late Ira W. and Dorothy M. (Bartmess) Peterson. On July 2, 1949, he married his late wife Anna Ruth (Rice) Peterson, with whom he was blessed to share more than 65 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on March 25, 2015.
Surviving are his children, Donna Jean Lee and her husband James, of Dillsburg, Kim A. Pellman and her husband Randy, of Mt. Pleasant Mills, siblings, Helen Campbell and her husband Robert, of Mifflintown, Donald Peterson and his wife Rochelle, of Honey Grove, 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren with one on the way.
A son, Dennis E. Peterson, two brothers, Robert M. Peterson, Harold W. “Pete” Peterson and a sister, Myra E. Hower preceded him in death.
Mr. Peterson was a 1947 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown and a member of the East Waterford Presbyterian Church.
In earlier life he was employed as a foreman in the Acid Department of the American Viscose Corp., Lewistown and in 1991 he retired from Pittsburg Plate Glass, Mt. Holley Springs.
Ray loved the outdoors hunting and fishing; however, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 26, 2018, from the Richfield Life Ministries Church with Pastor Aaron Benner officiating. Interment will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery, Mifflintown.
A viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
The family will provide all funeral flowers and kindly ask that memorial contributions in Mr. Peterson’s memory may be made to Richfield Life Ministries Church, 167 Church St., Richfield, PA 17086.
