Obituary for Curtis W. "Curt" Gutshall



Curt W. Gutshall, 65, of Mifflintown passed away at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, June 25, 2018, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born on September 27, 1952 in Lewistown, Mifflin County, he was a son of the late Charles W. and Wanda L. (Amtower) Gutshall.
Surviving are: his wife of 24 years, Fran (Davis) Gutshall, 2 children, Alice Osborne and her husband Philip of Mifflintown, Charles Gutshall and his wife Heather of Marysville, 2 Step-children, Dusty Weiand and her husband Michael of Mifflintown and Shane Armstrong and his wife Elizabeth of Port Royal; a brother, Kim D. Gutshall of Mifflintown and he leaves behind 11 grandchildren also a great-grandson.
A brother, Marc S. Gutshall preceded him in death.
He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Mexico, the Mexico Gun Club, the National Rifle Assoc. and volunteered with the Boy Scouts.
In earlier life, he farmed, after which he was employed by Poole Building Supply, Mifflintown and later retired from Penn Dot, New Bloomfield.
Curt was a true outdoorsman who loved reading western novels, had a strong passion for farming and being an avid hunter, he enjoyed many hunting trips to Wyoming; also playing cards especially Texas Hold'Em. With his gift of cooking, he loved breakfast, cooking it, going out for it with his friends, and also cookouts with his family. After 22 years of being at Old Home Foliage Days, he will long be remembered for his Kettle Fries. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held at10:00 a.m., Friday, June 29, 2018, from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown, with Pastor Dan Kerlin officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Memorial Gardens, Mifflintown.
There will be no viewing; however, the family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m., Thursday, June 28, 2018, at the funeral home.
