Obituary for Ronald E. Leppert Jr.

Ronald L. Leppert Jr., 86, of The Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove and formerly of Mifflintown died at 5:30 a.m. on Friday, November 3, 201 at the Manor.
Born on November 29, 1930 in Bloomsburg, Columbia County, he is the son of the late Ronald L. Sr. and Anna (Yoder) Leppert. On August 1, 1953 he married his late wife, Elizabeth R. “Betty” (Bachman) Leppert with whom he was blessed to share nearly 61 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on June 18, 2014.
Surviving are: his children, Richard L. Leppert and his wife Debbie, of Reading, Nancy L. Zimmerman and her husband Randy, of Mifflintown, Kenneth E. Leppert and his wife Jamie, of Middleburg; a brother, William C. Leppert, of Millersburg, six grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
A grandson, Jason Leppert, a brother, and a sister, preceded him in death.
Mr. Leppert was a veteran of the Korean War proudly serving with the U.S. Army.
He was a 1949 graduate of Northumberland High School, a member of the Juniata Horse and Saddle Club for 24 years and he had served as a Boy Scout leader. Also he was a member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church, and attended the Westminster United Presbyterian Church, both of Mifflintown.
From 1952 until 1972, he along with his wife, owned and operated Leppert’s 5 & 10 Store, and later the Buster Brown Shop, both of Mifflintown after which he retired from Kinney Shoes, Corp, in 1992. He had also been employed by Weis Markets, IGA and Ben Franklin.
Ronald loved horses and enjoyed hunting.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with the Rev. Nancy F. McClure officiating. Interment will follow in the Adams Cemetery, Mifflintown.
A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service, Tuesday at the funeral home.
