Obituary for Russell J. Sellers

Russell J. Sellers, Jr. 86, of Mifflintown, passed away at 2:55 p.m., Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at Valley View Haven, Belleville.
Born on September 13, 1930, in Lewistown, Mifflin County, he is the son of the late Russell J., Sr. and Esther (Carlson) Sellers. On September 13, 1959 he married his late wife Rose (Bailor) Sellers with whom he was blessed to share nearly 49 years, before she preceded him in death on August 30, 2008.
Surviving are a brother, Kenneth E. Sellers, of San Diego, CA, a sister, Judith A. Folk, of Lewistown and several generations of nieces and nephews.
One sister, Doreen M. Hoar, a half-brother, Palmer Sellers, and his faithful four legged canine companion, Bonnie preceded him in death.
He was a 1949 graduate of Lewistown High School and a member and Elder of the Mexico United Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Sellers served as a truck driver for various trucking companies in central Pennsylvania, and during this time he along with his late wife owned and operated Seller’s Tavern and Restaurant, of New Bloomfield.
Russell was an avid NASCAR and sprint car fan.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 11, 2017, from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with the Rev. Crystal M. Lyde officiating. Interment will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg.
Viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service, Monday at the funeral home.
The family will provide all funeral flowers and kindly ask that memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Sellers’ memory to the Mexico United Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 387, Port Royal, PA 17082.
