Obituary for Caroline J. Kerstetter (Rapp)

Caroline J. Kerstetter, 86, of McAlisterville, died at 11:05 a.m. on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the Richfield Senior Living and Rehabilitation Center, Richfield.
Born on July 23, 1931 in Liverpool, Perry County, she was a daughter of the late John M. and Irene C. (Mitchell) Rapp. On May 9, 1953 she married her late husband, Bernard T. Kerstetter, with who she shared more than 60 years of marriage.
She is survived by her children, Warren E. Kerstetter and his wife Cynthia, of Dauphin, Bradley W. Kerstetter and his wife Melissa, Catherine K. Sieber and her husband Kenneth, all of McAlisterville, Rebecca A. Powley and her husband Dennis, Sr. of Plains, Montana; she leaves behind 4 grandchildren, Kelly Kerstetter, Jon Kerstetter, Evan Kerstetter and Erin Kerstetter and 3 great grandchildren, Rylie, Coltin and Aletheia.
Two brothers-in-law, Morris F. Kerstetter, Jr., and Glenn Kerstetter and his wife Hazel, one sister-in-law, Ruth E. Swartz and her husband Amos, preceded her in death.
Caroline was a 1948 graduate of Greenwood High School and a member of the Richfield United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and helped with the Junior Church in her younger years. She also enjoyed bird watching, reading, knitting, crocheting, going to football games and watching Penn State on TV, cooking and baking for her family and friends, hunting, fishing, and camping with her family and friends. Caroline held most dear, the time spent with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Kerstetter was a homemaker and was also employed as a Secretary for the Pennsylvania State Police for 5 years.
She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 260 in Mifflintown, a former member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, former member of the Mahantango Grange and 7th Degree member of the PA State Grange.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at 2 p.m. from the Richfield United Methodist Church, Richfield with Pastor Kenneth Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Richfield Union Cemetery.
A viewing will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2017 from the church.
