Florence M. Yorks, 99, of the Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin and formerly of Mifflintown died at 11:03 p.m. on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at the village.
Born on March 13, 1918 in Juniata Altoona, Blair County, she was a daughter of the late Harry L. and Bertha E. (Kauffman) Peck. On December 9, 1941 she married her second husband, Ross O. Yorks, with whom she was blessed to share more than 42 years of marriage, until he preceded her in death on February 4, 1984.
Surviving are her children, Patricia L. “Pat” Bell and her husband Tom, of Mifflintown, Josephine A. Harris and her husband Jim, of Millerstown Donna M. Haubrick and her husband Randy, of Mifflintown 8 grandchildren, Gerald Losch, Jr. and his wife Cathy, Rachelle Flanagan and her husband Christopher, Alan Bell and his wife Shirley, Joel Bell, Deirdre Bell, Mark Harris, Gregory Harris, Randy Haubrick and companion Heather Paige; 13 great grandchildren, Liza Reynolds and her husband Chason, Carly Niman, Crista Niman and her companion Jimmy Vandergrift, Donald Smith and his wife Michelle, Ed Smith and his fiance Tracy McCabe, Matthew Smith and his wife Sarah, Danielle Bell and her fiance Derek Raffensburger, Courtney Bell and her fiance Ross White, Christopher Flanagan Jr., Mary Flanagan and her companion Jacob Harmon, Kaitlyn Haubrick and companion Tyler Wileman, Autumn Haubrick and her companion Hunter Fultz, Dakota Haubrick; and 20 great-great grandchildren, Macy, Aaron, and Landon Reynolds, Cayne James Vandergrift, Camdon and Mason Flanagan, Michala, Shae, Troy and Jaiden Smith, Jordin and Tanner Smith, Hannah, Madisen, Tysen, Jasen Smith, Avalyn and Hailey Zerfing, and Kadyn Fultz.
She is the last of her generation having been preceded in death by 2 brothers, Harry Peck, Sr., Donald Peck, Sr., and 4 sisters, Nettie Miller, Naomi Markel, Geraldine Leach, Mary Renninger and by a great grandson, Kody D. Bell and a great-great granddaughter, Miranda M. Smith.
Mrs. Yorks was employed by various local factories including Juniata Garment and she retired from the Beaver Shoe Factory.
Florence was a Methodist by faith, who loved animals of all kinds including her cats, dogs, pigs and chickens, and she also enjoyed gardening and doing word find puzzles.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 17, 2017 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with Rev. Graham C. Fowler officiating. Interment will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery, Mifflintown.
A viewing will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. on Sunday, at the funeral home.
