Obituary for Philip N. "Phil" Ebright

Philip N. "Phil"  Ebright
Philip N. “Phil” Ebright, 74, of Dauphin passed away at 8:55 a.m. on Sunday, August 30, 2015 in the emergency room of the Harrisburg Hospital.
Born on June 21, 1941, in Lewistown, Mifflin County, he was a son of the late Dr. Marvin S. and Ruth E. (Hambright) Ebright. On August 11, 1967 he married his surviving wife, Joan W. (Wampler) Ebright, with whom he was blessed to share 48 years of marriage.
Surviving are his sister, Sarah “Sally” Bomgardner and her husband Clyde, of Mifflintown; nieces and nephews, Amy (Bomgardner) Houtz and her husband Dr. Derek Houtz, of Mifflintown, Shirley Lafferty, of Skippack, Suzanne Kinkel and her husband Bryan, of Berwyn, Dr. Joanne Midla and her husband Dr. Lowell Midla, of Dublin, OH, Philip Wampler, of Dauphin, Lindsay Wampler, of Harrisburg, as well as several great nieces and great nephews.
He was a 1959 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown and a 1964 graduate of Carson-Newman University, Jefferson City, TN. He also proudly served his country with the U.S. Marine Corps.
Mr. Ebright was a member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church, the Crawford-Brubaker VFW Post 5863 both of Mifflintown and an ardent member of the NRA.
In earlier life, he taught Mathematics in the Mifflin County School District and at Camp Curtain, after which he owned and operated several different restaurants and taverns in the Harrisburg area, before co-owning Ebright Orchard, Mifflintown.
Phil was an avid hunter, who was a lifelong sports fan. Ever since he played Little League Baseball he followed high school, local, college and professional sports. He was an avid, true, loyal, lifelong Phillies fan who stayed with that team through the good times and bad. His memory will be long remembered for his philanthropy to the Dauphin area.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2015 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with his cousin the Rev. William Hambright officiating and where military burial honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council.
Interment will private.
There will be no viewing; however the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
The family will provide all funeral flowers and kindly ask that memorial donation may be made in Mr. Ebright’s memory to the charity of one’s choice.
