Obituary for James Edward "Jim" Eby

THOMPSTONTOWN, James Edward “Jim” Eby, 68, of Thompsontown, and formerly of Rockville, went peacefully to rest at 3:55 a.m., on Monday, November 5, 2012, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born on February 1, 1944 in Lewistown, Mifflin County, he was a son of the late Charles L. and Christiana R. (Derr) Eby. He shared more than 47 years of marriage with his first wife, Charlene L. (Singley) Eby, whom he married on May 4, 1963, before she preceded him in death on November 18, 2010. On August 4, 2012, he married his surviving wife, Kimberly M. (Noldin) Warner Eby.
Surviving are his children; Mike Eby and his wife Donna, Gina Bell and her husband Greg, all of Mifflintown, Todd Eby, of Lewistown, Michelle Rhodes and her husband Doug, of Shippensburg, Jimmy Eby and his wife Karen, of Sevierville, Tenn; step children Amanda Howard and her husband Tom, of Port Royal, Jessica Fite and her husband Gary, of Thompsontown; a brother, Richard Eby and his wife Janet, of Yeagertown; a sister, Maryann Eby and her husband Celo Lauver, of Harrisburg, and he leaves behind 20 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
One brother, C. Leonard Eby, preceded him in death.
Mr. Eby proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of the American Legion Post 298, Mifflintown, and the J. E. Bowen Amvets Post 122, Thompsontown, and was an avid supporter of the Port Royal Speedway, where he held various positions, including Track Steward and Wrecker Operator.
Jim loved telling stories and making others laugh and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, November 9, 2012, at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with Pastor Chris Buttery officiating. Interment will follow in the Adams Cemetery, Mifflintown, where the Juniata County Veterans Council will accord full military burial honors.
There will be no viewing; however, the family will receive friends from 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Thursday, November 8, 2012.
